Egg Parasitoids of the Corn Leafhopper, Dalbulus Maidis, in the Southernmost Area of its Distribution Range
Egg parasitoids of the corn leafhopper, Dalbulus maidis (DeLong and Wolcott) (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae), were surveyed exposing sentinel eggs of the leafhopper along a latitudinal transect of 600 km in Argentina, the southernmost area of its distribution range. Four parasitoid species were obtained: the mymarids Anagrus breviphragma Soyka (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae), Anagrus flaveolus Waterhouse, a...
متن کاملReproductive and developmental biology of Gonatocerus ashmeadi (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae), an egg parasitoid of Homalodisca coagulata (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae)
The reproductive and developmental biology of Gonatocerus ashmeadi Girault, a parasitoid of the glassy-winged sharpshooter Homalodisca coagulata (Say), was determined at five constant temperatures in the laboratory: 15; 20; 25; 30; 33 C. At 30 C, G. ashmeadimaintained the highest successful parasitism rates with 46.1% of parasitoid larvae surviving to adulthood. Lifetime fecundity was greatest ...
متن کاملA new species of Anagrus (Hymenoptera: Mymaridae) from Amazonas, Brazil.
A new fairyfly species from the Neotropics, Anagrus (Anagrus) amazonensis Triapitsyn, Querino & Feitosa, sp. n., is described and illustrated. Anagrus Haliday is a large genus of Mymaridae (Hymenoptera), which now includes eight species recorded from Brazil. This new species attacks eggs of damselflies (Odonata: Zygoptera).
متن کاملFirst known host records for the egg parasitoid Gonatocerus californicus (Hymenoptera Mymaridae)
Two leafhopper (Hemiptera Cicadellidae) hosts are reported for Gonatocerus (Gonatocerus) californicus Girault (Hymenoptera Mymaridae): Exitianus obscurinervis (Stal) and Spangbergiella vulnerata lacerdae Signoret. At El Manantial site in Tucumán Province, Argentina, G. californicus emerged from 7.1% and 90.5% of the parasitized sentinel eggs of the respective host on maize plants. Notes on the ...

Egg maturation and oosorption in Gonatocerus ashmeadi were investigated in the laboratory and the relationship between hind tibia length (HTL) and <12 h egg load, and wing wear and parasitoid age were determined. G. ashmeadi given access to honey-water and hosts, on average, matured 77 eggs in excess of those they were born with. The number of mature eggs in female G. ashmeadi provided honey-wa...
